The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent tragic incident at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies on social media, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a police operation at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The gunman began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official told the news agency.

Officers that raided the lodging recovered a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was arrested, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in the city of Durham, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and fellow classmates,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and peers and lament the passing of his bright future.”
