Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
